Overview

Phippsburg is a long, finger-like peninsula separating the Kennebec River from Casco Bay. It is home to one of Maine's most beloved beaches, Popham Beach State Park, where the river meets the sea. The town is rich in history, from the 1607 Popham Colony (one of the earliest English settlements) to the Civil War-era Fort Popham.
