How to Get There
Bristol is located on the Pemaquid Peninsula in Lincoln County, approximately 60 miles northeast of Portland. From US Route 1 in Damariscotta, take Route 129 or Route 130 south onto the peninsula. The villages are 10-15 minutes from Damariscotta and about 50 minutes from Portland.

Can I climb Pemaquid Point Lighthouse?
Yes, the lighthouse tower is open for climbing from Memorial Day weekend through early October, weather permitting. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children 5-11, and free for children 4 and under.
Why is Bristol also called Pemaquid?
Pemaquid was the original name from 1632-1765, derived from the Native American name. When incorporated as a town in 1765, it was renamed Bristol after the English port city, but the historic Pemaquid name remains for the peninsula and villages.
